One of the Federation’s key objectives is to support and promote excellence among deserving students.

Thanks to the generosity of Cavaliere del Lavoro Giovanni Laviosa, who established the Ernesto Laviosa PhD Scholarships, the College is offering up to five (5) fully funded places for the 2025/2026 academic year. These are open to international students who:

  • are enrolled in the first year of a PhD programme at a university in Rome
  • are visiting PhD students or young researchers for a period of 3 to 12 months at a university based in Rome

N.B. First-year Ph.D. students, with equal scores, have priority over visiting PhD students and other researchers

Conditions for Admitted Students

Selected candidates will be required to reside at the College. They will receive free accommodation, breakfast, and dinner. Ph.D. students will be allowed to take lunch but will have to pay 10 euros for each lunch consumed. Cooking in the room is not allowed for safety reasons.

Admitted PhD students will have access to all College facilities, including sports areas, computer rooms, and common spaces, in accordance with College regulations. They will also be encouraged to participate in the College’s cultural and language programmes, as well as in evening meetings with guests from the worlds of culture, institutions, and the Cavalieri del Lavoro.

Each selected student will be expected to hold one or two monthly seminars in English, presenting their research to undergraduate and master’s students residing at the College.
