University is a preparation for life. Since its foundation, this has been the focus for the College’s cultural programmes, giving them a method and a style. A method involving rigour and intellectual passion, certainly, but accompanied by a style of a serene conviviality of ambitions, values and projects. It is in this way that the wager on merit can converge with the habit of not hastily dismissing differences as errors and also of considering the continuous comparison with so many young people from every part of Italy and from every social condition as a precious opportunity for one’s education. All participating in this experience with equal standing.

This is also why we aim for excellence through interdisciplinarity. Today, the positive combination of flexibility with the possibility of reaching positions of responsibility are achieved thanks to the following commitment: that of being as good at one’s own subject, as is expected of those who hope one day to teach it as university professors, and that of looking at the other realms of knowledge with a traveller’s spirit of curiosity. This is what I wish for all those who visit this site and above all for our students, who have decided to build their future in this way.
